I began my aerial journey in 2013. Being a climber, canyoneer, and overall outdoor addict from Colorado, it wasn’t too long before I wanted to combine my love for the outdoors with my love for aerial arts.
My husband Devon was the perfect fuel for the fire, as his own outdoor addictions mirrored (and influenced) mine. When I mentioned my idea of rigging aerial fabric outdoors, he was not only supportive, but enthused. He was excited about translating his climbing and canyoneering knowledge into aerial rigging. Devon is also a professional photographer, and this project offered much potential for photos.
It started with a simple rig on a tree in the backyard, and grew into a mission to rig the aerial fabric in as many amazing places as we could find. We named the mission the Aerialist in the Wild Project, and my growing identity as an artist became Aerialist in the Wild. As the project continued, we realized that it wasn’t just a project. It was a lifestyle, and a lifework of inspiring people – starting with me – to connect with nature and learn to love themselves.
I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have!
